A Simple Approach on Forest Roads Drainage Structures Planning Using GIS: A Case Study of Şile-Turkey

Forest roads provide access to forest resources for conducting several forestry activities such as production, protection, afforestation, management, recreation and firefighting. Both drainage structures pavement should be completed serve safely a long time. This study aimed determine both cross-sections types of newly built roads, using Geographic Information System (GIS) techniques. ArcGIS Pro software was used analysis in the study. The total length road area 7920 m, where 31 planned at stream crossings along route. Considering areas route, it has been decided construct structures, including 25 pipes, 5 culverts 1 bridge. GIS technology produces accurate fast results terms determining cross-sectional on roads. A simple GIS-based approach reduces stabilization problems construction maintenance costs design compared traditional land evaluation methods. Thanks its capacity process big data hydrological empirical calculations, significant gains accuracy time consumption is included planning designs.
